Someone’s Advice: Not Your Style

Jessica gives her thoughts on the whole “my style” thing in queries on the BookEnds Literary Agency blog.

You hear the same advice when it comes to any kind of submission or query: Follow the directions.  I’ve heard many reasons for different standards: Some just like it better that way,  attachments are untrustworthy, it makes slush piles/inboxes easier to manage, and so on.

But I think it is also to see how professional you can be.  People don’t want to work with rogues, they want to work with team players.  And as you see from the link above, it also fails to impress and put forth a good first impression.
