WIPpet Wednesday: Why is that fine?

WIPpetWedWhat’s WIPpet Wednesday?
Wednesday is for the day of the week I (and others) share a WIPpet.  The word WIPpet is the joining of the word snippet with the acronym WIP, which stands for Work In Progress.  Using the date to conjure up a math formula, WIPpeteers (the group of people that share WIPpets) figure out how much to share.

My WIPpet Math
The date is 4/16/2014.  16 + 2 = Page 18.  We’ll add 4 + 14 = 18, which I only need one of so, 1 + 8 = 9 Sentences

What’s My WIPpet?
Again, my MG novel, GRANDMA.  Lizzie and George keep fighting the tree and are getting ever closer to Grandma.  This leads to an interesting discovery.

This Week’s WIPpet
We moved and expected to see more tree, and there was.

However, there was something else. It was a surprising find, really. A normal spot of floor and wall.

“Hey!” George sounded like he had found someone eating his cookie and didn’t like it much. “Why is that fine?” He pointed to the thing in the center of normal. There was something next to a pair of yellow dish washing gloves.

  1. Hmm, depends on what “that” is… But it does sound like it may be useful, or dangerous, or both.

Sorry, but even without the ‘something’, I’m not trusting anything that appears normal in the midst of all this. Call me paranoid if you like, but this place is freaky.

    • And we are only just through the front door! The other rooms… Yeah. I think the creepiest stuff I won’t get to in WIPpets. (Dining room and kitchen are rooms away.)

  3. Hm, shapeshifting trees that eat Grandmas? Is this some kind of reverse Hansel and Gretel? 🙂

  4. Love it! George’s indignance over finding something “normal” in the abnormal circumstances really tickles my funny bone. 🙂

  5. A tree? Wow! Grandma is really quite intriguing! Love your imagination!

    • I’m pulling inspiration from lots of places for this. But, it all comes down to one thing… “What’s the oddest thing that can happen in this room?” I try to think of things that would make a kid go “Whoa!”

  6. I really like the description of George’s tone. And given the weirdness they’ve experienced so far, “Why is that fine?!” is definitely a good question!
